Slide 7-3. Inceptic Hapludox. Latosol. Location: Central Puerto Rico. Parent Material: Deeply weathered tuff breccia. Horizons and Depths: Ap 0-18 cm (0-7"); A 18-30 cm (7-12"); Bol 30-53 cm (12-21"); Bo2 53-76 cm (21-30"); BC 76-119 cm (30-47"); C 119 cm+ (47"+). The scale is in feet (30 cm) and three-inch (8 cm) divisions. A highly weathered, acid, low nutrient status soil with a high phosphorus fixing capacity. Soil is also permeable to water and easily tilled.
