The Kevin Donnelly SASES Undergraduate Advisor Award recognizes an individual for outstanding service as a SASES undergraduate student club advisor at both the local and national level. Nominees must have served as the lead local SASES club advisor for a minimum of ten years (service can be at more than one school).

In 2025, one individual will be chosen to receive a $1,500 award and a certificate that will be presented to them at the annual SASES Awards Program at CANVAS.

Applications for this award are due by May 29th, 2025

Award Evaluation

  • Engagement, impact, and achievements related to advising the nominee’s local SASES affiliated undergraduate student club.
  • Outstanding service to SASES programs at the national level. May be demonstrated by:
    • Regularly attending CANVAS and participating in or coordinating SASES activities
    • Serving as a coordinator or judge for SASES competitions
    • Supporting their local club delegation to attend SASES meetings and participate in activities and competitions
    • Serving on or leading a CSSA, SSSA, or ASA Society committee or program focused on undergraduates (e.g., SASES contests, undergraduate scholarships, GO Scholars, undergraduate research, national crops or soils contest, SASES advisory committee, etc.)

Nominator

  • Nominators are required to be ASA, CSSA, and/or SSSA members.
  • Members of this Awards Committee and the ASA, CSSA, and SSSA Board of Directors are not eligible to be a nominator for this award.

Nominee

  • Nominees must have served as a primary advisor for a SASES affiliated club for a minimum of ten years (service can be at more than one school).
  • Nominees must be ASA, CSSA, and/or SSSA members.
  • Nominees must be living at the time of their nomination.
  • Former recipients of this award are not eligible.
  • Members of this Awards Committee and the ASA, CSSA, and SSSA Board of Directors are not eligible to be a nominee for this award.

Reference

  • Two outside letters of recommendation supporting the nomination are required:
    • One letter must be from an undergraduate student member or group of members representing the nominee’s local SASES affiliated student club.
    • The second letter should be from a peer familiar with the nominee’s role as a SASES student club advisor.
  • Members of this Awards Committee and the ASA, CSSA, and SSSA Board of Directors are not eligible to be a reference for this award.
