Societies urge Senate to support USGS funding in FY 2018
August 30, 2017
Just before leaving for the August recess, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior, Environment and Related Agencies marked up its FY 2018 bill. The bill proposed a cut of more than $45 million to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), a cut that would result in less funding to the agency than it received in FY 2009. ASA, CSSA and SSSA signed on to a coalition letter asking the Senate to provide strong support for the USGS as they develop their FY 2018 bill. See the Budget and Appropriations webpage for the latest updates on the FY 2018 budget process.
