Nominee for USDA Undersecretary for Research, Education and Economics announced
July 20, 2017
Sam Clovis has been nominated by President Trump to serve as USDA Under Secretary for Research, Education, and Economics. Dr. Clovis holds a Doctorate in public administration from the University of Alabama and has lead the USDA transition team since January, serving as the Senior White House Advisor. While some groups have questioned the choice because of Clovis’ lack of a scientific background, a coalition of nearly two dozen industry groups, including the American Farm Bureau Federation and the National Corn Growers Association, sent a letter to Senate Agriculture Committee leaders, urging support for Clovis.
