Awards

The Division presents several awards each year to recognize achievement and to promote work in the area of soil and water conservation and management.

The Young Scholar Award recognizes young scientists who have made an outstanding contribution in Soil and Water Management and Conservation within seven years of completing their Ph.D.

The Graduate Student Award is presented to a graduate student whose thesis research and responsibilities utilize creative approaches to gain understanding and develop solutions for soil and water conservation and management.

The Best Paper Award honors the authors of SSSAJ manuscripts published with the Division of SSSAJ during the last seven years that have had exceptional impact on the scientific community.

The Soil and Water Conservation Scholarship is awarded to students matriculating toward a degree and career in soil and water conservation. Nominations open for the 2014 Soil and Water Management and Conservation Scholarship. Award description.

The Graduate Student Poster Competition will present awards for a poster competition event at the annual meeting, with cash prizes of $250, $200, and $150 given for first, second, and third place winners, respectively.

The Howard M. Taylor Lectureship on Root-Soil Relationships sponsored a lecturer each year, from 2001 to 2008, to present research results, models, or retrospectives on root-soil relationships.
