Spring Award Nominations

Every Spring the SSSA opens nominations for numerous awards, scholarships and fellowships. Click here to browse the full list or choose one of the scholarships below:

Clark Soil Biology Scholarship

Elevator Speech Contest

$3000 to a graduate student working in the field of soil biology or biochemistry or microbial ecology.

Soil and Water Conservation Scholarship

$3000 to a student in the field of soil and water conservation.

Frank D. Keim Graduate Fellowship

$3000 to a student in the field of agronomy or related.

America/New Zealand Soil Science Travel Award

$4000 as a travel grant to support a United States based soil scientist to travel to New Zealand, or a New Zealand based soil scientist to travel to the United States.

Truog Soil Science Outstanding Dissertation Award

$3000 to a recent Ph.D. recipient in the field of soil science.

Gary "Pete" Peterson Dryland Soil Management Scholarship

$5000 to a graduate student in the field of soil science.

FALL AWARD NOMINATIONS (SCIENCE POLICY)

Congressional Science Fellowship 

The Fellow selected will spend one year in Washington DC, applying his/her professional and scientific expertise as a special assistant on the staff of a member of Congress or Congressional committee.

Future Leaders in Science Award 

Award winners will travel to Washington DC for an opportunity for graduate students to engage with policy-makers in order to raise awareness and support for science, technology and research funding through the Society Congressional Visits Day (CVD).

Graduate Student Leadership Conference

The Graduate Student Leadership Conference provides professional and leadership development to graduate students, and includes sessions on networking, professional etiquette, leadership, and oral and written communication.
