To Test or Not To Test, That is the Question Webinar Series

This webinar series will give you the low-down on Soil Sampling strategies, laboratory soil testing procedures and results, and the information necessary to translate the laboratory results into nutrient recommendations. This webinar will address several ICCA performance objectives over the Soil Testing portion of the Nutrient Management Competency Area.

Soil Sampling - So Many Choices, So Little Time

There are many soil sampling strategies commonly used by field agronomists, including composite sampling, grid sampling, and directed sampling, among others. This webinar will address these questions.

Which factors determine which sampling method is preferred?

How much information do you really need; is more always better?

Should sampling depth be considered when designing a sampling scheme for a field?

Soil Analysis - So Many Methods, So Little Time

This webinar will follow a soil sample from arrival at the lab through the extraction and detection processes. Special attention will be given to the nature of the various extractants, the index they yield, why different extractants are used for different nutrients, and what the number on the lab report results actually represents.

Soil Test Interpretations - Soil Analysis Results to Field Nutrient Recommendations

The laboratory soil test results report an index that is used as an estimate of plant available nutrients. That value is often associated with a fertilizer recommendation which is sometimes related to a yield goal. This webinar will address the “black box” that is used to attach some meaning to the laboratory test result. Special attention will be given to correlation and calibration studies and other processes that are used in deriving a recommendation from a test result.
